Pisa

Our first day trip of our Tuscan adventure was to Pisa to visit the leaning tower.20130503-094733.jpg

The collection of buildings on the Piazza del Miracoli are a beautiful sight.

Whilst the tower is Pisaโ€™s most famous building, the interior of the Duomo is the real show stopper in my eyes.

From the huge bronze doors,

… the frescoed dome

I last visited the tower about 10 years ago when it was undergoing works. It was great to see the tower now standing unsupported.

We visited the museum where we learned about how the tower was stabilised and went on a 3D tour!

Donna and Gaz found time for a spot of sunglasses shopping. ย Strike a pose!

We had been told about a great little restaurant in the shadow of the tower where we stopped for lunch. Despite the touristy location, the food was amazing and it ended up being my favourite meal of the holiday (although clearly you can’t take the boys anywhere!)
