Cue mandatory tourist pictures!
The collection of buildings on the Piazza del Miracoli are a beautiful sight.
Whilst the tower is Pisa’s most famous building, the interior of the Duomo is the real show stopper in my eyes.
From the huge bronze doors,
… to the magnificent gold ceiling,
… the frescoed dome
… and the elaborately carved pulpit from the early 1300s.
I last visited the tower about 10 years ago when it was undergoing works. It was great to see the tower now standing unsupported.
We visited the museum where we learned about how the tower was stabilised and went on a 3D tour!
Donna and Gaz found time for a spot of sunglasses shopping. Strike a pose!
We had been told about a great little restaurant in the shadow of the tower where we stopped for lunch. Despite the touristy location, the food was amazing and it ended up being my favourite meal of the holiday (although clearly you can’t take the boys anywhere!)
